Gods/Goddesses/Demigods
* Ceres - Italian goddess of Grain (Identified as Demeter) (DM) Roman - mother of Harvest, ruler of grains. The early summer festival was called Cerelia (also, origin of the word CEREAL) her symbol is a scyth. (UNKNOWN)
* Demeter - Goddess of Vegitation and Fruitfulness. Daughter of Cronus and Rhea. Mother of Persephone. Vegitation and Fruits withered when Persephone was taken by Hades. Zeus didn't want men to starve so he agreed to let Persephone stay in the Underworld only part time. For each pomegranate seed she had eaten, she had to stay a month Underworld. (usually 6) (DM.69.70) This explains the cycles of summer and winter.
* Flora - Roman goddess of flowering plants and fertilty in general (DM.97)
* Ops - Roman goddess of harvest and fertility. Wife of Saturn and Mother of Jupiter. (Identified with the greek Rhea.) (DM.193)

* Picus - Roman god of agriculture and manure. He was changed into a woodpecker when he refused to the love of Circe. Father of Faunus, son of Saturn (DM.216)
* Pitao Cozobi - ancient mexico - Monte Alban maize god. often shown adorned with actual casts of maize ears. (MEX.125)
* Plutus - Personification of Wealth, especially of crops. (roman?) (DM.217)
* Quetzalcoatl - Ancient Mexico - Feathered Serpent. He created humanity with his own blood (MEX.101) There is an aztec story where the hero/god turned into an ant to steal a single grain of maize from inside a mountain where the ants hid it. He gave this to humans for nourishment. (MEX.30)
* Saturn old Italian king god. (Like greek Cronus) - his reign was the 'golden age' - A Planet was named after him, as well as the day 'Saturday' His festivals were marked by revelry and merry making. (DM.232)
* Tammuz - Babylonian god of agriculture. Died anually, went into hell, and was resurrected. (DM.247)
* Xipe Totec - ancient mexico, Nahuatl for "our lord the flayed one" - a symbol of the anual renewal of vegitation. (MEX.101) At times represented by a priest wearing the flayed skin of a captive. (MEX.120)
