Gods/Goddesses/Demigods
* Faunus - Roman god of herdsmen, forests, and (bucolic?) revelry and merry making. (Identified with greek PAN) - also able to inspire men with overpowering terror (PANic)(DM.96)
* Pan - (Greek) Silvanus (Italian) had the power to instill fear unexplained in men. (DM.237) Greek god of herds/flocks. Body of man, - horns, ears and legs of a goat. Played the syrinx. haunted caves and lonely rural places. Playful, vigorous, fertile, irritable, dont wake him during an afternoon nap. He can inspire an irrational fear (panic - pan ic) in men and animals. (DM.202)
* Silvanus (Italian) see Pan.


Creatures/Beings/People
* Empusae - monsters, taking various forms. Hecate sent them to frighten travelers. They were amorous but ended by eating their lovers. Among the Empusae were Lamiae. (DM.81)
* Eumenides - Greek avenging beings punishing those who would disrupt the natural order of things. They drive men mad with the fear they would inspire by their hideous looks. They were the Furies. (DM.88) (see justice)
* Pephredo - one of the greek Graiae. Name = "Dread" (DM.209)
