Formed a triad with Ptah and Sekhmet. Imhotep is the god of knowledge and the patron of medicine. (WDS.423) Symbols and Objects * Caduceus (many cultures) snakes entwined around a rod, representing healing. In mesopotamia the intertwined snakes represented the healing god Ningishzida. A similar symbol for the greek medical god Asclepius. Emblem also found in India, and the Americas with Aztecs and American Indians. Used today as an emblem of the medical profession.
