* Ali'i-wahine-o-ka-malu - Hawaiian moon deity (DPOLY.333)
* Aloimasina - (samoan) - an inferior moon god who helped cure sickness. (DPOLY.8,333)
* Artemis - (greek) goddess. became the moon goddess because she is associated with childbirth and the lunar cycle. Daughter of zeus and Leto. Also a goddess of the hunt and chastity. Her brother is Apollo. (DM.31) (see chastity) (assoc. with Roman Diana.)
* Astarte - Phoenician goddess of love and fecundity, associated with the moon. Sometimes depicted standing in a crecent moon (DM.330) Astarte was the star, moon and heavenly virgin. Biblical Ashtoreth - goddess of Byblos. (bibles) - the heavenly. the holy one. Assimilated into Isis/Neith and the ankh sign. Her symbol represented her as the queen of heaven "Tan it" (WDS.197)
* Diana - roman goddess of the moon and virgin of the hunt. And helper to females in childbirth. (identified with greek Artemis) (DM.72)
* Hina - Tahitian/Hawaiian - most popular moon moon deity. resides inside the moon Is patron of (tapa kapa??) beating. Has long black hair. (DPOLY.333)
* Luna - Roman goddess of the moon. Associated with the greek goddess Selene. (DM.163)
* Selene - Greek Goddess of the moon. (DM.163)


Symbols and Objects
* Astarte's symbol (see Astarte)
* Athame - used in rituals of moon worshipers as a sacred knife. (Moorish - Arab - Andalusian cults known as the 'double - horned ones' ~ their word for it was "al-dhamme". It was used in scarring ceremonies, but then was used to draw symbols (pentacles) on the ground. (WDS.21)
* Lunar Swastica - (from creton coin) represented the moon's retrograde path - viewed as female, lunar, mysterious, sacred. (WDS.55) (see mystery)
* Lunate cross - sign of protection. Used by Northern European Shamans. 4 crecents, 4 phases of the moon, or 4 phases of the moon in the heavens - the seasons. (WDS.55)
* Horns - perhaps associated with the moon crecents. Associated with the "divine mother cow" Hera or Io. Many gods had horns. (WDS.139)
* Menstrual Blood - associated with the mood and its cycles. Royal purple (blood red) 'feminine moon blood' (established thousands of years before christianity) held the secret of future life. (WDS.151)
* Wishing Well - water goddess and the moon (and used to pray to the watercoddess and mother moon) (WDS.62)
* YenYang - the previous meaning to the chinese symbol is the expression of the phases of the moon. The moon was female, both light and dark. (WDS.18)
