Gods/Goddesses/Demigods
* Adonis - (see anemone flower)
* Chloris - Greek goddess of Spring. (Roman equiv: Flora) (DM.276) She is called "The green one" (WDS. 427)
* Flora - "Flourishing one" Science uses the name to represent all of the botanical world. As a goddess she is basically the same thing, but more intimate. The beginning of the season is called "wearing of the green" - Earth put a new robe of green on, starred with flowers. Identified with the greek goddess Chloris. (WDS.427)
* Blodeuwedd - Welsh goddess of spring. Her body was made of flowers. (WDS.427)

Plants and Minerals
* Anemone flower in Syria - During spring, the landscape reddens with the anemone. Fructification of the earth by outpouring of the blood of the god Adonis. (Adonis's attributes and symbols (thorny myrrh crown, his virgin mother "myrrah" were assimilated into the story of Jesus, called Adonai, "the lord") (WDS.423)
